Many Bay Area students — including veterans, working adults, and apprentices — have already acquired valuable skills outside the traditional classroom. This project will build a regional community of practice among twenty partner colleges to advance the adoption and integration of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), enabling students to earn college credit for military training, on-the-job experience, industry credentials, and non-credit coursework. The collaborative will develop shared resources, professional development, and a central CPL toolkit accessible to Bay Area colleges and community colleges statewide.

These roles require operations and field experience along with communication, critical thinking, and project management skills. Public awareness of transit careers also lags behind other sectors.
