In this project, Justin Mead explores motion-captured dancing using full-body suits and OptiTrack cameras, recording data onto the UE5 sequencer. With a completed video and a proof of concept, he plans to experiment with different dance styles, multiple performers, and integrating green-screened shots. His goal is to test various aspects of virtual production, utilizing dance as a versatile medium for creative exploration.
“This video is made in Unreal Engine 5 using motion capture data provided by a dancer in a mocap suit. I recorded the dance data to the sequencer, then replayed the data using several default ue5 models. After making a simple set, I then rendered 3 versions with alternative camera angles out to cut between in the final version.”
