At least half of U.S. workers believe gaining AI skills will help their careers progress, according to the latest findings of LinkedIn’s Workforce Confidence survey — and just under third of workers expressed doubt that AI will have much impact on their jobs in the future.
The survey found that the youngest and oldest employees have more doubts about AI impacting their jobs. Meanwhile, mid-career employees are more likely to be focused on upskilling right now in response to advances in AI.
Four in ten Gen Zers said they doubted AI would impact their roles, followed by 36% of baby boomers. Just 29% of millennials and Gen Xers agreed. When it comes to gaining AI skills to further their careers, mid-career millennials are leading the charge; 54% agreed, followed by 53% of Gen X workers. In contrast, 45% of baby boomers and just 39% of Gen Z workers agreed.
