Laney Faculty member Tuan Nguyen presented alongside Monica Beane of AWS and Samir Saber of Houston CC during the AACC in Denver this past week.
The AACC Annual conference concluded on a high note after four days of inspiring sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities. More than 2,000 community college leaders, educators, and partners gathered in Denver to share best practices, innovations, and challenges facing the sector. The conference theme, “Reaching New Heights”, reflected the AACC’s vision of advancing the community college movement and empowering students to achieve their academic and career goals.
Presentation Description: US Community colleges, MSIs, and HBCUs are experiencing challenges around Implementing DM/AI/ML programs. AWS Machine Learning University Educator Enablement Program was created to help these schools build programs that diversify DM/AI/ML graduate pipelines. The program provides free curriculum development, access to computing development environment, and participation in year-round educator enablement events. During this session, panelists from Houston Community College and Laney College share how they partnered with AWS Machine Learning University to leverage the tools to launch stand-alone courses, certificates, and full degrees in DM/AI/ML.
